ITS OVER!!!

An astonishing season for the Tampa Bay Rays has ended in defeat. This young team truly showed what it meant to play with heart. Each and every game leading up to the World Series, this team gave it 100%. Unluckily, this young team struggled in the closing games and ended what could have been a historical mark for this franchise. The other team the Philadelphia Phillies deserve a but-load of credit. They fought hard in every game during this World Series. Simply, I feel that the talent between the teams just didn't match up. The Phillies infield, both on the defense and offense side, just completely out played the Rays. The pitching game didn't really match up very evenly either. Even though every game in this series was pretty low scoring, not including the Phillies ten run game, the Phillies pitchers just pitched better than the Rays. You have to give it up for both of these teams. They had remarkable seasons, and definitely will be contenders next year!

REBOUND?

The Miami Heat season is about to begin, and hopefully this team is returning with a vengeance after last years horrendous season. Other than the fact that their missing a descent big man, the team does showcase a load of talent at the other positions. First round pick Beasly is expected to be an instrumental part of the Heats lineup. Along with him the always dependable Dwayne Wade will be there, hopefully continuing his stellar performance in the Olympic games.  Some of the other player are; Shawn Marion, Daequan Cook, Chris Quinn, and Dorell Wright. With this young studded team the Miami Heat fan should be in-store for an exciting season. Newly hired head coach Erik Spoelstra has hopefully prepared his team for the upcoming season. I'm extremely excited to see what this team does this year.

PBA TOUR......

The PBA tour, bet many of you have never heard of that. Its the bowling championship for the Pro Bowling Association. Is bowling even a sport? How athletic do you really have to be to roll a twelve pound ball some odd feet and knock down ten pins? Doesn't seem very hard to me. So when I here people calling bowling a sport, it just makes me laugh. Bowling is not a sport! Football is a sport, basketball is a sport, baseball is a sport for lazy people, and hockey is a sport for big crazy people who know how to skate. All those are sports because they take athletic ability and talent, bowling does not! Every sunday afternoon when I turn on ESPN and see the PBA tour on, it just boggles my mind. Why are they broadcasting such a silly, unimportant thing when they could be showing a football game. Bowling is a fun activity to do with friends, not a sport! Anyone who thinks other wise is wrong!

THE OAKLAND RAIDERS?

What's the problem with the Oakland Raiders? That is one talented team, yet it seems they just haven't been able to put it together. Lets just name a couple of their big name players: Ja Marcus Russell, Darren McFadden, DeAngelo Hall, Michael Huff, Robert Gallery, Javon Walker, and many more. Now thats a star studded team. Ever thought maybe the coaching staff is the problem? I think the whole coaching staff needs to be wiped out and new experienced coaches need too be brought in. A team of this caliber shouldn't be the laughing stalk of the NFL, they should be at the top. This team could be a real contender in the AFC West if someone could just get all these players on the same page. This franchise certainly has a good future ahead of them. Once they get over these minor bumps in the road, be prepared for a totally new team that we'll have everyones eyes glued to the television.

Successful 2008 Under the Belt

This years Florida Marlins were definitely one of the big surprises of the 2008 MLB season. Having a team with the lowest pay role in baseball that finishes the season over .500, now thats what I call success. Other than finishing with a winning record of 84-77, the Florida Marlins have shown a lot more. This team has shown that it has one of the most profound young clubs out their with players like Hanley Ramirez, Dan Uggla, Mike Jacobs, and many more. Additionally, this team has shown that they can rack up some runs with their bats, coming in 3rd place for the most home-runs this season, with 208. The young pitchers also showcased their talent this year. The very talented Scott Olsen and Josh Johnson showed why they were some of the top prospected pitchers just a few years ago. These teams better watch out because the Florida Marlins are not a team your going to want to mess with next year!

SPORTS NOW "DOLPHINS PLAYOFF BOUND"

It was Sunday September 7th 12:55 PM, the Dolphins were minutes away from kicking off  the 2008 season. As my friends and I sat on the couch preparing to watch this game, a feeling of pride ran down my spine. After going through such a treacherous season last year, I knew that this year the Dolphins were a changed team. Bill Parcells as commander and chief, Chad Pennington leading the offense, and a young fast defense ready to take out anyone who dares to score in their end-zone. This team was ready to do some damage. As the CBS symbol aluminized my 70 inch plasma TV and the sports theme music blasted from my surround sound, I was prepared to see my beloved team hit the field against their rivals the New York Jets. As the game went on, the Dolphins just weren't playing to their highest potential. Here comes another dreadful season I thought.  The second game against the Arizona Cardinals went just as horrendous. Then came game three, against last years undefeated New England Patriots. Seemed like 0-3 was just 60 minutes away. As the game began, the Dolphins had a new look, a new feeling of pride, and a completely new offense, the WildCAT offense. Seems quite simple, hike the ball to your best offense player, Ronnie Brown, and let him do the damage. Surprisingly, the Patriots defense had no clue how to stop it. A huge smile covered my face, my Miami Dolphins were not only playing a phenomenal game, but doing it against one of the best football teams in the world and against possibly the best coach out there. When the game concluded the final score was 38-13. Now thats the football team I've grown to love. Two weeks later the played another one of the NFL's premiere teams, the San Diego Chargers. This game went very similar to the Patriots game, such a simple scheme was dominating the opponent. Once again the Dolphins came out victorious. Even though the next two weeks for my team didn't go so well, I still see a great future in store for them. Playoffs, maybe not so unlikely. With a struggling AFC east division they may actually have a chance this year. GO FINS!
